Post subject: Server changes are now in place!
We have finally implemented the new server changes!

We've decided to experiment a bit by having two campaigns, with 6 maps each, instead of one with 10 maps. The overall number of maps is still 10 however, but if people enjoy the two campaign system, we might make increase the overall amount of maps to 12.

There will be a poll later next week, where you can vote if you like the changes or not.

The two campaigns look like this: (Names in Bold are repeated maps, names in Green are new maps)

Campaign One:
Frost 2 - Goldrush TE - Braundorf - Adlernest - Supply - Oasis

Campaign Two:
Frostbite - Radar - Braundorf - Delivery - Supply - Venice

We have also made a few class changes, due to the new campaign structure:
- Lowered the amount of required points needed for levels in battlesense/lightweapons to 20/50/90/140.
- Medic: Lowered the amount of required points needed for levels to 30/75/125/300.
- Field Ops: Changed the amount of points needed for levels to 25/75/150/200. Changed the charge time from 40 seconds to 50 seconds.
- Cov Ops: Lowered the amount of points needed for levels to 20/50/90/140.
- Soldier: Lowered the amount of points needed for levels to 20/50/90/140.
- Engieneer: Lowered the amount of points needed for levels to 20/50/90/140.

Had some problems downloading the map frost.
First it downloads the map against +300 kb/s. then it starts over against 13 kb/s and then it starts over again against 13kb/s and then it starts over again against 13kb/s and then ....

Downloaded it from somewhere else manually. Max birras also has a problem with it I guess, because he is already connecting +20 min.

Shouldn't be a problem any longer. Sometimes the server makes glitches like that

just had a bash on the new 2x6 with tom, bushi n the boys....i reeli like it, good change from the normal....even found frost fun, only for axis tho (LOL tom Very Happy)

Did you guys ever have missle (cant remember which version - was it C2?) on the server?

Frost2 i haven played enough to comment, quite enjoyed my first go but i was axis Smile

Yes, we had missile on the server, unfortunately people disconnected a lot during that map. As for frost, lets see how it goes for a few more days. If its still bad, we will replace it.

I never had a prob with Missle, Venice on the other hand is an ancient map which hasnt got better with age!

Played Frost2 on allies - If allies actually attacked together it would work but as always thats not what happened and instead it was 15 minutes of spam from axis with allies having 5 coverts at one point (always a bad sign!)

Can you please reboot the server ? not the et server, the whole server.

It is lagging like hell again.
My ping is now standard 148 instead of 48.
Same for dippies, he has now 205 standard.

No problem with other servers.

Besides the ping issues the server is also lagging a lot for people with normal pings.

I dont think we are on a dedicated server, so we cannot just restart it. I do believe that most serverhosts restart their servers once every week or so however.

Nope, nobody has really done it. The server is up for 172 days meaning over half a year without a restart and people had problems with lag for some time, then the problems disappeared, now they are here again.

It's not about restarting, as it doesn't change a thing (contrary to popular belief). Not even Windows needs it (I'd had a normal XP workstation up for over 2 months without a problem and I'm surely not the record holder) but some design considerations make the system interacting slower sometimes for which one solution is to restart the system. And that's how the myth "a restart helps" emerged.

It's probably some network/routing inconsistency somewhere again. Others (= other clans/communities with their own servers) experience it too from time to time and there's nothing we can really do about it easily (except of jumping from hoster to hoster according to the current network situation in the interwebz).

btw the old setup didnt allow calling vote with !callvote
and there were unpleasant situation that maps dont finish after completing the obj and we couldn't do anything.
does this work now?

Hmm, never witnessed any of those personally.
We could make the 'nextmap' vote appear after 30 minutes, that way players could vote for the next map if its not over after 30 minutes (thats the default map length for most maps anyway).

I believe the problem is that if the final obj is complete, the map will run until the time runs out, so a 30 min vote would do nothing. 15/20 more like it, most players are bound to vote no anyways, if someone starts messing around with it.
